Christopher Barksdale



Christopher Barksdale received his training on scholarship at the Kansas City Ballet School, the School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School and Chicago City Ballet School. He was hired into the K.C.B. by his mentor, Todd Bolender, and danced there for 21 years. While there Christopher danced roles in works by Ailey, Balanchine, Bolender, DeMille, Tippet, Loring, Christensen, Duato, Reinking, Sappington and the company's current director, William Whitener. He also has been seen in several opera and musical theater companies both locally and abroad, including the national touring companies of The Will Rogers Follies and Thoroughly Modern Millie. In Kansas City he has performed at Starlight Theater, the Unicorn, and the Coterie Theater, MTH ( Musical Theater Heritage), The Arts Asylum, and Black Repertory Theater of Kansas City  and has worked as a choreographer and teacher in area schools and theaters. Christopher is currently the Resident Choreographer for the Black Repertory Theater of Kansas City.

Christopher joins the faculty at Miller Marley as a ballet/ballet partnering instructor and guest choreographer for the Miller Marley Youth Ballet.
